Z Microsystems Announces the Orion 20 Universal Display Platform with SAW Touch Panel

Orion 20 UDP now with SAW Touch Panel

San Diego, CA, USA -- November 1, 2003 - Representing a multi-generational leap in rugged flat panel display technology, Z Microsystems releases the 20.1" rack-mount Universal Display Platform (UDP) with a Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) touch panel option. Z Microsystems selected a SAW touch panel option because of the significant improvement in optical characteristics due to its clear and uncoated glass overlay. The SAW touch panel is also functional with a gloved hand, an advantage that the capacitive and resistive panels don't offer.

The Orion 20.1" builds on the UDP family of displays, a caliber of display performance unseen in its class. The new Orion 20.1" offers the same advanced features found in the Orion 21.3", both enabling up to eight picture-in-picture (PIP) video frames to be dropped over one another, cascaded or displayed separately.

The Orion 20.1" and 21.3" UDP also present unique web-accessed, intelligent SoftMenus^TM, streamlining multiple users to totally and remotely control the size, color, shading, resolution, power, positioning and brightness of the various PIP images.

With the same form factor and options as the successful Orion 21.3" UDP, the Orion 20.1" has a resolution of 1280 X 1024, and was developed to meet customer requests for a large format display with a high quality touch panel. The Orion 20.1" UDP also meets stringent MIL-STD-461E, RE102 EMI requirements ensuring consistent performance between operational scenes.
