Prominent Military Organization Leaders Choose the Z MPU |
|
January 16, 2004 - Two prominent military programs have chosen Z Microsystems' Z Multiple Processor Unit (Z MPU) to be integrated within existing program architecture. The advantage the Z MPU line of rugged computers has over the competition is the ability to quick-swap Sealed Computer Modules (SCM) and hard drives (Intel and/or Sun motherboards). Currently, Z Microsystems offers the 2x, 4x and 7x configuration, all with the optional peripheral device bay. The peripheral devices offer the customer a choice of CD-ROM, DAT, floppy, and up to two additional ports for external devices. Each SCM can be assigned any of the peripheral devices via Z Microsystems' local or web-accessed system administrator, delivering a remotely accessed peripheral switch for a closer command of fielded operations. Z Microsystems designed the Z MPU to provide program leaders greater flexibility in field-deployable computing. The speed with which application-specific configuration changes can occur with the Z MPU is unchallenged. With one clean chassis, easy-to-swap sealed computer modules, and remote system administration, the Z MPU provides a more upgradeable and more modular solution to the military's long program cycles.
