September 14, 2004—Hosting seven independent quick-swappable Sealed Computer Modules (SCMs), the 7X Z MPU (Multiple Processor Unit) raises the bar in mission control of fielded operations. Seven different operating systems, missions and software suites can run simultaneously in this ultra rugged Z Microsystems' chassis. The powerful 7X hosts multiple motherboard options, including UltraSPARC, Dual Xeon and Pentium 4, with dedicated maximum capacity TranzPak 7 SCSI hard drives for each processor.

The 7X joins the 4X and 2X family of Z MPUs, which offer an additional on-board shared Peripheral Bay. Sharing peripheral devices means effective space allocation in tight work areas. The Peripheral Bay offers options for CD-ROM, DAT, and floppy drives, as well as four supplementary USB ports for externally attached devices. Any of the internal or external USB devices can be assigned locally or remotely to any of the SCMs via a web-accessed system administrator.

All SCM settings can also be performed directly from the control panel on the face of the SCM, including functionality, LCD contrast settings, temperature limits, and tactical program settings. These are just some of the additional firmware menu options available on the Z MPU.

The 7X, 4X and 2X Z MPUs are easily configured for mission specific applications and solve a wide range of deployed computing concerns from Airborne and Shipboard to Field Deployment. Whatever the program requirements, simply swap out the specific SCM and TranzPak 7 and you're ready for the next mission.
