Z MPU 7X - Rugged High-Performance Multi Processor Unit

Ruggedized Multiple Processor can run seven different operating systems, missions and software suites simultaneously.

Hosting seven independent quick-swappable Sealed Computer Modules (SCMs), the 7X Z MPU (Multiple Processor Unit) raises the bar in mission control of fielded operations. This ultra-rugged powerhouse allows one to plug-and-play UltraSPARC, Dual Xeon and Pentium 4 motherboards and run up to seven different operating systems and software suites simultaneously.

The 7X is easily configured for mission specific applications and solves the problem of fielding a separate set of hardware for each software application, saving space and weight.

External USB devices can be assigned locally or remotely to any of the SCMs via a web-accessed system administrator. All SCM settings can also be performed directly from the control panel on the face of the SCM. A common power source maintains stability and reduces failures in harsh environments. An embedded computer tracks the health of the whole system.

The 7X Z MPU solves the following problems:

  • Resolves End-of-Life challenges.
  • Helps operators stay current with continually evolving processor technology.
  • User can quickly configure multiple computing resources needed for specific missions.
  • Allows command to deploy the same hardware that the software developers use.
  • Helps minimize space, weight, power, and cost.

The Z MPU solves these problems by using:

  • Integrated drives and Sealed Computer Modules with built-in system monitoring through a removable control module.
  • "Prognostic" feedback to predict hardware degradation before failures occur.
  • Upgrade program allows end users to cycle the SCMs and TP7 modules back to be upgraded with the latest computer technology.
  • Common power source.
  • Faster processors, special I/O boards - DC and 400Hz power supply upgrades.
